London Flower Stand- oil on canvas 5x6ft April 2008...I needed to make the break from figurative work to re-explore the purity and complexity of paint itself and its power to create vision. Originally I began this thought process in 1995, but did not realize or act upon it until my last painting when I suddenly lost my 21 year link to figurative work.
We will see where this goes, and one thing is for sure...I will not return to the figure as I had before...This image is based upon my visit to London a couple of years ago. The fresh flower stands were powerful imagery.
